Treehouses in the regional park of Gascony

Up to South of France: welcome in Aquitaine !

Located next to the town of Langon, south of Bordeaux, this village of treehouses has been entirely devised for ecologically minded families wishing to participate in the preservation of the environment promoted by the Park. The site offers a wealth of activities to spend active holidays walking, cycling or canoeing. Free animations (natural pool and children’s activities) are led by an instructor during high season and other entertainment such as well-being massages, tree climbing, wooden toys, nature outings, and concerts are available upon reservation and payable on the spot. Pets are not invited (see below). The ecological choices of the estate are clearly visible, mostly in the building materials and equipments: maritime pine tree, wooden isolation, water system (waterless toilets, cleansing plant filters, ecological pool, water savers…). But also in energy savings and renewable sources of power: solar hot-water tank, photovoltaic electricity, home automation; in the waste treatment (selection and composting); in the organic and local food supplies; in the preservation of the natural site: removable foundations, no motorized traffic…

The treehouses
The 8 meter (26ft.) tall wooden cabins hidden among the trees boast a risk-free terrace among the oak foliage, a transparent roof and a view over the river and the gallery forest. They are devised to accommodate 2 to 3 or 4 to 5 people. All the cabins are equipped with beds, pillows and blankets, as well as dry toilets and a sink at ground level. Private showers are located in the sanitary space. And a common kitchen allows to cook one’s meal. Access to the cabin is by staircases/ladders with tall steps secured by banisters.
Children access the cabins under their parents’ responsibility. It is prohibited to walk up a cabin inebriated.
No smoking is allowed inside or around the cabins.
Pets are not allowed on the grounds to protect the quietness of the place and the local fauna.

the regional park Landes de Gascogne
This site is encased in the “Parc naturel régional des Landes de Gascogne”, a nature preserve of remarkable beauty as well as a lively living area. All around it, the extended moors and marshes of long ago have given way to the largest cultivated forest in Western Europe. It treasures its rich patrimonial heritage, preservation being a major stake. Created in 1970, the Landes de Gascogne natural preserve spreads to the South-West from the inner bank of the lake of Arcachon along the valleys of the Leyre rivers (Petite Leyre and Grande Leyre).

The park lends itself to wonderful outings:
On foot: a discreet exploration of the unique landscape through its many paths to discover a traditional “aerial”, a laguna, a gallery forest or a river.
By canoe: an ideal way of discovering the windy watercourses, the gallery forest and biotope. Rental by the hour or the day.
By bicycle: the small roads are easy to cycle; you can ride in the shade of tall pine trees through a countryside dotted with traditional villages, churches and fountains.
An 80km (50 mile) cycling path on the former railway line connects the site to the Lake of Arcachon.
