This 8 days long cycling hike connects the famous roads of the St James’ Way with the cultural and culinary highlights of this region. Between vineyards, gorges, valleys and high plateaus you will enjoy the Nature, culture activities and pleasure of the Rouergue.

This cycling trip connects the famous roads of the St James' way with an amazing tour by the cultural heritage of the region: Castles, churches, cathedrals and abbeys. You cycle through wonderful medieval villages and rich in contrast landscapes, that were shaped along the years. Between the vineyards of Marcillac, the estates in Conques, the valley of the Lot, the gorges of the Aveyron and the high plateaus of Ségala and the Causse you will enjoy the nature, culture, activities and pleasure.

Every evening you will be welcomed by your french hosts who will cook for you typical regional dishes: Fois Gras, duck chest, goat cheese, savoury pies and delicate wine – In the region of the Rouergue, gastronomy is part of the culture!

Day 1: Arrival in Rodez

Arrival at Rodez and evtl. visit of the cathedrale Notre-Dame, and the old City.

Day 2: Rodez – Marcillac Vallon – Combret

After breakfast easy riding to Marcillac. Then via Vallon, arrival in Combret for dinning and overstay.

Distance:: 35km

Tag 3: Combret – Conques

Today riding through the Dourdou valley to Conques , nice panorama over Pruines castle and the fortress of Servayrie.

Distance: 30km

Day 4: Conques

Visit and quiet ride through and around Conques.

Day 5: Conques – Vieillevie

A pretty route on minor roads through Lot valley to Vieillevie. On the evening great place for dinner at the Hotel- Restaurant with pool and tennis place.

Distance: 38km

Day 6: Vieillevie – Saint Julien d'Empare

Starting at Vieillevie, past the Lot valley through to Saint Julien d'Empare

Distance: 38km

Day 7: Saint Julien d'Empare – Villefranche-de-Rouergue

Today you have the choice between the direct way to Villefranche or over Peyrusse le Roc.

Day 8: Departure

The bicycle tour ends in Villefranche where you will give back the bikes

Our bicycle tour begins in Rodez and ends in Villefranche-de-Rouergue.
Your organise the arrival and return by yourself and extend your trip on your option.

These bikes with 18 speeds are robust and made for cycling trips. There are equipped with 2 bags and one maps support.
Electric bike: 270,- €/ person/ 7 days

There will be rent on the first day of your trip.

Nights in double bedroom in 2 stars hotels or guesthouses.
Your hosts will be pleased to share their knowledge about the region, the cycling paths and the regional gastronomy. In the guesthouse there are obviously a private bathroom and WC.
The copious breakfast will be prepared with fresh products and home made jam. In the evening, you will enjoy typical regional cuisine. You can also, by paying a small extra-price, ask your hosts to prepare the picnic for your lunchs.
According to the availability in the guesthouses, the programme may change a bit.

Level: easy

This cycling trip is designed for beginners. This is why there are not so much ascents. The stages are between 20 and 46 km (12.5 and 28.5 mi) long. You will ride on small side roads. In order for you to not get lost, you will be given maps and advices.

We recommend you an eco-friendly journey with the train to Rodez.
