This trip takes you on a bike ride along the southern French coast. Secluded lakesides and beaches to bathe in and quiet scenery for your enjoyment. Encounter locals and try regional cuisine on your journey from Bordeaux to Biarritz for a truly eco-friendly natural holiday in France.

Take a tour along the Atlantic coast from Bordeaux to Biarritz in the Basque region. Participants will ride through the rich landscapes of the Vélodyssée, France's longest cycling route and part of the Euro-Velo route 1. Endless sandy beaches and secluded bathing places around numerous lakes await. You will cross shady pine forests and discover the most beautiful coastal panoramas in Aquitaine, including the Dune du Pilat, Europe's highest dune. You'll have a chance to meet and stay with locals, experience local hospitality and try the regional cuisine to merge culture and nature for a truly eco-friendly holiday in southern France.

Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux

Participants wil be cordially received at the hotel in Bordeaux, where they will receive the cyclist's logbook containing the route along with some other useful information on the region. They'll be given the chance to explore the culturally rich city on their own.

Day 2: Bordeaux – Lacanau-Océan

Participants will embark on the Voie Verte (greenways)leading along a pine wood. They will spend the night in a 3-star hotel in Lacanau-Océan. Guests may take advantage of the complimentary breakfast the following morning.

Day 3: Lacanau-Océan – Arcachon

Participants will ride through dunes and more forest on their way to Arcachon Another 3-star hotel including breakfast will await them there.

Distance covered: ca. 47km

Day 4 (optional): Round the Bassin d'Arcachon

Participants may choose to explore the Velodyssée along the bay in the vicinity of Arcachon and spend the night in a 3-star hotel that includes breakfast.

Distance covered: ca. 37km

Day 4: Arcachon – Biscarosse

Planned for the day is a trip to Dune du Pyla before participants continue along the forested Velodyssée towards Biscarosse Plage in the Landes Département. Another 3-star hotel with half-board awaits the travellers.

Distance covered: ca. 30km

Day 5: Biscarosse – Mimizan Beach

Today, the Vélodyssée will lead participants away from the coast to Mimizan beach. There will be stopovers in Étang de Biscarosse and Parentis. Lodgings will be in a 2-star hotel including breakfast.

Distance covered: ca. 52km

Day 6: From the beach to the heartlands

Time to take things easy and cruise through more pretty forest on the way to the beaches of Contis Plage, St Girons Plage and Lac de Léon lake. Guests will spend the night in an inn in a coastal city in Landes.

Distance covered: ca. 55km

Day 7: Les Landes – Basque region

Participants will visit typical coastal cities for the region such as Hossegor and/or Cap Breton with the final destination for the day being the Basque region. Guests will spend the night in Biarritz after a visit to the well-known regional city of Bayonne.

Distance covered: ca. 65km

Day 8: Departure from Biarritz

Participants will enjoy a breakfast before leaving for their respective connections home.

During this trip, participants will spend seven nights in twin rooms in family-owned B&Bs (chambres d'hôtes) or 3-star hotels. Your hosts will be there to welcome you and share their knowledge of the region, bike routes and their local cuisine.

This bike tour is suitable for everyone, including families with teenagers!
Participants will travel mainly along paved cycle paths. Thanks to the short length of the legs, they can enjoy the scenery with virtually no time pressure.
