On this themed hiking tour in France's Drôme department, you will travel back in time. Discover the legacy of the Huguenots and follow in the footsteps of the Protestant minority as they fled along the Roman roads of the 17th century. The routes lead through varied landscapes - from gentle valleys over wide plateaus and imposing mountain ranges, through beautiful medieval villages and past historic castles. An unforgettable hiking experience featuring nature and culture!
Day 1: Arrival in Poët-Laval
Early evening arrival at Poët-Laval in the Rhône Alpes region.
Overnight stay in a hotel or guest room in Poët-Laval.
Day 2: Poët-Laval - Dieulefit
Participants visit Poët-Laval, the starting point of the Sur les Pas des Huguenots trail. Then hike through the valley of Jabron and over the hills of Dieulefit.

Leg duration: 2-3 hrs - distance covered: 6,2km - difference in altitude: +260m/-250m
Day 3: Dieulefit - Bourdeaux
Dieulefit is an ideal starting point for hikes. Today's stage leads around Mount Ventes to the Comps chapel and down into the Roubion valley.

Leg duration: 4-5 hrs - distance covered: 16km - difference in altitude: +660m/-680m
Day 4: Bourdeaux
Participants explore the charming village of Bourdeaux (not the city). A themed round trip hike around the village takes them close to the trails of the Huguenots.

Leg duration: 3-4 hours - distance covered: 11 km - difference in altitude: +/-300m
Day 5: Bourdeaux - Col de la Chaudière
Participants hike from Roubion and over the ridge of Tour with the Roche Rousse mountain range in the background. The mountain region, the locally nicknamed Trois Becs, is enthroned above the hamlet and the Col de la Chaudière pass.
Leg duration: 5-6 hours - distance covered: 11.5 km - difference in altitude: +900m/-320m
Day 6: Col de la Chaudière - Rimon-et-Savel
Participants descend into the Valley of the Roanne, where we would like to stay for a while, towards Rimon and the Plateau de Solaure through the vineyards and lavender fields. Rimon is a small and charming village at an altitude of 1000m.

Leg duration: 6 hrs - distance covered: 17 km - difference in altitude: +1200 m/-1200m
Day 7: Rimon-et-Savel - Die
Through the Plateau de Solaure - a great vantage point to see the Plateaux du Vercors and the more distant massifs of the Dévoluy and the Oisans - you reach the Croix de Justin, which overlooks the small town of Die. End of the hike at Die train station (optional return transfer to Poët-Laval at extra cost).

6 nights in hotels or guest rooms. Breakfast and dinner will be served in the accommodation and mostly consist of traditional regional dishes. Vegetarian alternatives are usually also offered. The optional lunch picnics are also prepared by your hosts. The picnics can either be booked in advance (surcharge of approx. €90/person) or ordered and paid for directly at the hosts the evening before.
This trip is suitable for all who regularly do sports or are experienced hikers.
Average length of the hikes: 4 hours per day or 6 to10 km on clearly marked hiking trails, which partially lead through forests. Differences in altitude between 200 and 1200m per day.
The guide is a French, state-certified mountain guide who specializes in the region. The trip is in French.
We recommend an eco-friendly journey by train to Montélimar followed by a bus to Poët-Laval.
