Discover one of France's most beautiful and legendary cities and experience life in and around the medieval city of Carcassonne. Repeatedly used as a movie setting and listed among the UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, the historic city centre holds many treasures. Venture beyond the tourist attractions exploring Carcassonne's new town, tasting its infamous Micheline absinth, visiting the Cathar centre and joining the locals at the colourful market. Leave the city to visit some of the region's beautiful villages such as Montolieu, Rennes-le-Château or Aragon. Local delicacies and excellent wines will round off this unique city adventure.
Day 1: Old city of Carcassonne
After your arrival, you will be welcomed by your hosts in Carcassonne. Before having dinner you have the possibility to visit the medieval city and its curtain walls.
Day 2: Imaginarium and elixir of Carcassonne
In the morning you will visit the Imaginarium museum. Then you go for a long walk in the lower part of Carcassonne, that was built on the left side of the Aude by Louis IX of France. In the afternoon, you will have the pleasure to visit a factory that creates the Micheline, a sort of absinth, which is produced since 1868 on a traditional basis and is called the Elixir de Carcassonne too. You will also see dozens of shops, full of history.
Day 3: Moussoulens-Montolieu ou Rennes-le-Château
According to the seaon you will either go to the herb market in Carcassonne or the truffle market in Moussoulens. You then have an alternative:
1. From Moussolens you will drive to the village Montolieu, where you will hike in the footprints of Patrick Süskind – a important halt for any book lovers or writers!
2. You will visit the medieval village of Rennes-le-Château and discover the _Abbé Saunières_'s secret…
Day 4: Wine tasting & Departure
On the last day of this stay you will go for a walk and a wine tasting session in Aragon, homeland of the A.O.C. Cabardès. For the lunch you will go at a wine grower's place, who will also guide you through his vineyard. Finally you will come back to _ Carcassonne_ from where you can come back home.

We recommend you an eco-friendly journey with the train to the train station of Carcassonne. Please bare in mind that a car is needed for the transfers on the spot!
