Algae tour? Why should I?

French wine and cheese are great, no doubt, but this here is an invitation to a gourmet initiation of a whole new world that begs discovery. Passionate local actors want to share unexpectedly great French flavors with you that not a lot of people know of. Described as the “fifth flavour”, the iodine consistency of seaweed offers a great playground for cooking enthusiasts as well as for gourmets, vegetarians and vegans.

The algae industry is one of promise, offering strides in food, material, cosmetics, health, energy and agriculture. In Brittany, particularly in northern Finistère, the waters are particularly pure and favourable for the development of algae. You will experience largest seaweed field in Europe, located in the Molène archipelago in the Iroise Sea, home to more than 300 species. These waters constitute a protected ecosystem for local wildlife.

The algae industry in Brittany is one of the best in France.

How to get there

Our ecological recommendation: travel by train to Morlaix station via Paris Montparnasse or from Brest.
