A stay specially designed for families with young children. Beginning in Pont-Aven and ending at a seaside resort in the heart of the Breton Riviera, participants get exceptional views of the Breton coast and bath almost every day as they follow well marked hiking trails.

The tour follows the well known GR34 route along the Breton coast on mostly flat terrain. It covers the prettiest features: white sandy beaches, coves panoramas forests and even some small cities, each with their own charm.

Day 1: Arrival in Pont-Aven

The hike begins in Pont Aven at the guesthouse. Dinner in a restaurant in the town centre, close to your accommodation.

Day 2: Visit to Pont Aven
After breakfast prepared with fresh local produce, participants spend the day in Pont-Aven, home of painter Gauguin, to sail on a kayak or boat on the Aven or to explore the surrounding woods along with the mills and small chapels within them. Pont-Aven is also famous for its gastronomy, especially the famous Traou Mad butter cakes! Dinner of your choice.

Day 3: Hike from Pont-Aven to Port Manech to Nevez

After breakfast, participants set off on their first hike following the marked GR 34 path from the accommodation. On the way to Henan, they can stop to admire the tidal mill. The path finally leads to the small port of Port Manec'h and its fine sandy beach. After about 2.5 km, participants will arrive at the guesthouse at Nevez. For more comfort, they may use a taxi transfer from Port Manec'h, overnight stay and dinner in the guesthouse in Nevez.

Day 4: Relax around Nevez

Névez is situated directly by the sea, perfect for beautiful walks along the coast. Participants can also see the big granite blocks, the "standing stones". Also worth seeing are the traditional Breton huts, small granite houses with thatched roofs (rye straw or reed). Overnight stay and dinner in the guesthouse in Nevez.

Day 5: Hike from Nevez to Pointe de la Jument

After breakfast, the group can enjoy a beautiful day of hiking along the coast. On the GR, which you will follow for about 14 km, the terrain is almost flat, with passages in the sand. The panoramas vary, especially at the different points of the bay: Pointe de Raguenez, Pointe de Kerjean, Pointe de Trevignon and finally Pointe de la Jument. At Trevignon, part of the walk takes you through a nature reserve (categorized Natura 2000) in the municipality of Trégunc. Depending on how tired you are, you can take a taxi to your hotel in Concarneau. Overnight stay in a 2-star hotel in Concarneau. Dinner at the restaurant of your choice.

Day 6: A Visit to Concarneau

Take the time to stroll through the lively town of Concarneau. The "Ville Close", the former fortress of Brittany, is an exceptional fortress that is now a marina and a site for fishing. Overnight stay at the hotel in Concarneau.

Day 7: Relax on the beach or swim in Glénan

On this day in Concarneau participants can further explore the surroundings: visit the extravagant castle of Keriolet, or relax on the beach of Les Sables Blancs. Another recommended excursion: a boat trip (1 hour) to the Glenan Archipelago, whose crystal clear waters and white sand remind us of Polynesia. Possibility to bathe on the Ile Saint Nicolas. Overnight stay in a hotel in Concarneau.

Day 8: Hike from Concarneau to La Forêt Fouesnant

After breakfast, the group hikes to the bay, past the Marinarium and the Plage des Sables Blancs beach back onto the GR 34. The route is serene, you will follow the coast, alternating between forest and sea, and enjoy a magnificent view of the Bay of Concarneau. The route continues for 1km towards the small village of La Forêt Fouesnant. The day closes at the 2-star family hotel in the heart of the village. There are some dining options close by.

Day 9: Relax in La Forêt-Fouesnant

The majestic granite church and the granite burial site part of the deep seated Breton culture in Forêt-Fouesnant. The church, a real small country cathedral, was mainly built in the first half of the 16th century and has been listed since 1914. Participants either stroll along the old harbor and the old lanes or hike back to the marina and its long, wind-protected sandy beach. Overnight stay at the hotel in la Foret Fouesnant.

Day 10: Hiking day La Forêt-Fouesnant - Beg Meil

After breakfast, the group continue on from Forêt-Fouesnant along the bay and the old port to the other side of the shore, where they will rejoin the GR 34. The path to Cap Coz is beautiful and lined with trees with a constant view of the sea amd sandy beaches. The path rises a little and overlooks many small bays and beaches that invite you to swim in the turquoise waters. Your 2-star hotel in Beg- Meil is located at the end of a small road that leads to the pier. There is a large selection of restaurants in the city.

Day 11: Relaxing & bathing in Beg- Meil

Beg Meil is a peninsula surrounded by the bay of La Forêt to the east while the waters extend to the Atlantic Ocean to the south. Beg-Meil is a well-known and lively seaside resort, surrounded by bays and long beautiful beaches like the beach of Les Dunes. Discover the hidden corners of this little paradise!

Day 12: Hiking day from Beg- Meil to Bénodet

Today, the group covers one of the most beautiful hikes of tour. Varying landscapes, long beaches, swamps, forests and coastal paths. An easy hiking stage where you can stop for a swim at any time. After having crossed the protected landscape of the Mousterlin swamp, they will reach the coast again and follow it to Bénodet. Arrival at your 2-star hotel, located in the centre of Bénodet. If your children are tired before arriving at the hotel, you can order a taxi. Overnight stay at the hotel in Bénodet. Dinner of your choice.

Day 13: Relaxing in Bénodet/Excursion to Quimper

The group can visit Bénodet's beaches or take the boat trip on the Odet (depending on the time), Other options including shopping and relaxation in the bay area. Discover the "Pearl of the French Riviera", an area consisting of Bénodet, Fouesnant und La Forêt-Fouesnant that combines the charm of the river area with the seascape. We also recommend a visit to Quimper, a historic city with a well-preserved medieval heritage.

Day 14: Departure - return to Pont-Aven via Quimper

Once you have parked your car in Pont-Aven, you can take the bus there from the center of Bénodet via the town of Quimper. A safe journey home!

Level of difficulty: easy, suitable for children

Simple, flat and sandy terrain, the tour is manageable for everyone. There is hardly any difference in altitude. Hikes suitable for children from the age of 7. It is recommended that they enjoy walks. Average length of hikes: 3 to 5 hours per day with frequent breaks and bathing fun.

Getting there

We recommend a comfortable and eco-friendly train ride via Paris, Quimperlé and bus to the centre of Pont Aven.
