An experienced horse-farmer will guide you along rivers and lush green valleys allowing you to sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery while sharing his passion for horses and the region as well as his home-grown vegetables. Take advantage of the many rivers and lakes along the way to go swimming and fishing and simply enjoy this unique nature escape to unwind and spend some quality time with your family!

Day 1: Arrival
Our horse breeder will await you at around 6pm, welcoming you with refreshments and showing you around the farm. Afterward, you may settle into your Gypsy caravan or choose to spend the first night at a local inn.
Day 2-7: Cruising through the Franche-Comté region
The horse breeder will give you a tutorial on handling your horse and caravan on the morning of Day 2 (ca. 2 hours), he will guide you on your caravan tour through Franche-Comté’s beautiful landscapes along secondary roads and former railway tracks along the river, allowing you to stop for a swim any time you like. Every evening, you will be expected at specially prepared campsites where you will spend the nights in your Gypsy caravan.
Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, it is time to say farewell to your horse and caravan. Have a safe trip home!

7 nights in your Gypsy caravan, local guide and instructions, horse rental and horse feed, campsite fees, detailed information, directions and map.
Train or airfares to/from destination, meals, travel cancellation insurance, safety deposit (€300, payable on site, to be refunded upon return of caravan).
Bike rental: €50 per bike and week (payable on site).

This trip is perfectly suited for families with 2 or 3 children. Dogs are allowed.
Your holiday home is either an authentic Gypsy caravan or a replica built with ecological materials, both of which belong to the local horse farmer. The caravan is equipped for 4-5 persons with one queen-size bed, 2 pull-out beds and one small bed for children, as well as a kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, gas burners, dishes and silverware, table, chairs and storage space. Supplies for the week may be purchased at local grocery shops along the road.
Your caravan is drawn by a Comtois horse, specially trained for this tour. Comtois horses are perfectly suited for drawing heavy loads. Their strength and sweet nature make them ideal companions for your caravanning trip. Experience handling horses is not required as you will be joined by our local horse breeder.
Our local horse farmer will guide you through the Franche-Comté region. You will either be travelling alone or joined by one or two other families. You will be asked to pay a safety deposit, to be refunded upon return of the caravan.
Your caravanning trip is all about travelling light, basic comfort, shared sanitary facilities and mosquitoes – but also a unique holiday experience with horses and an escape from everyday life. Cruising through unspoiled landscapes, on paved roads but also in plain nature, without internet access, take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to let go and reconnect with yourself and your family!
Discover the simple yet delicious selfmade regional cuisine, purchasing local produce and specialties and enjoying them by the campfire – with a glass of regional wine and joined by locals and fellow travellers.
Be sure not to underestimate both the joys and pains of handling your horse and caravan!
Please keep in mind that your hosts are French horse farmers who may not speak English very well. Basic French skills may come in handy to follow the instructions on handling your horse and caravan among other things. Prior experience in handling horses may come in handy but is not mandatory.
You will be travelling in rural France and may depend on a car to buy supplies for the week. We thus recommend that you travel by car or rent one at the airport or train station. The point of departure of your trip is a remote horse farm near Besançon. Free parking is available on site. The exact address will be provided upon booking.
