Discover the beautiful Périgord Blanc in France's southwest in a horse-drawn Gypsy caravan! Our passionate horse breeder Pascal will guide you and your family through picturesque villages and lush green valleys, allowing you to explore this extraordinary region in a truly unique way. Enjoy the ride in the caravan or by its side on the back of a saddle horse, and take advantage of the free rental bikes to keep exploring the region beyond the itinerary. Overnight stays at local farms, outside small villages and near lakes offer plenty of opportunities to meet with locals and experience rural life in France.
Day 1: Arrival
On Saturday, your guide Pascal will welcome you at his horse farm at around 4pm. A short horse tour for your kids will kick off your adventure trip. Spend the first night in your eco friendly Gypsy caravan or a local inn.
Day 2-7: Cruising through “White Périgord”
Head out on an extraordinary journey through France's lush green countryside. Your host Pascal will guide you along the way, pointing out the most exciting landmarks and sights, letting you in on the region's history and sharing his knowledge on and passion for his horses. The short daily legs (approx. 12km/8mi) will allow you to travel at a slow pace and take in the beautiful scenery. Upon arrival at each day camp, you will have plenty of time to explore the new environment by horse or bike, and visit local farmers to buy freshly baked bread and regional specialties and learn what rural life in France is all about.
Day 8: Departure

This trip is perfectly suited for single parents with children. Convoyed tours with one additional caravan are possible upon request.
Your holiday home is a replica of Gypsy caravan built with ecological materials, belonging to the local horse farmer. The caravan is equipped with 4-5 beds incl. blankets and pillows (please be sure to bring sheets and towels!) as well as a kitchenette with a sink, 2 gas burners + gas container, ice box + 4 cooling elements (replaced daily), plates and silverware, 2 tables, 4 chairs, 2 camping chairs, one large picnic blanket, and lights. Sanitary tents with dry toilets and solar showers will be delivered to each campsite by your escort vehicle.
Your caravan is drawn by either a Comtois or Percheron horse specially trained for this tour. Both breeds are perfectly suited for drawing heavy loads. Their strength and sweet nature make them ideal companions for your caravanning trip.
Your host Pascal will guide you through Périgord, making this trip ideal for single parents with children. Prior experience in handling horses is not mandatory but may come in handy. An escort vehicle will allow you to store heavy luggage, tools, horse feed and 4-5 bikes. You will be asked to pay a safety deposit, to be refunded upon return of the caravan.
Your caravanning trip is all about travelling light, basic comfort and shared sanitary facilities (and (and occasionally dealing with mosquitoes) – but also a unique holiday experience with horses and an escape from everyday life. Cruise through unspoiled landscapes, on paved roads but also in plain nature, without internet access. Take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to let go and reconnect with yourself and your family!
Discover the simple yet delicious self-made regional cuisine, purchasing local produce and specialties and enjoying them by the campfire with locals, fellow travellers and a glass of regional wine.
Please keep in mind that your host Pascal is a French horse farmer who doesn’t speak English very well. Basic French skills may come in handy to follow instructions on how to handle your horse and caravan among other things. Depending on your itinerary, the campsites are located on farms, outside villages or by lakes. Meal options may thus vary, including restaurants, delivery to the caravan, and local shops and farms where you may purchase local products for homemade meals. We recommend that you bring food and supplies for the first couple of days or buy them upon arrival (local supermarket open daily including Sundays). Be sure to bring suitable clothing for different weather conditions as well as a bathing suit (swimming pools and ponds along the way) and horse-riding gear if you plan on going horse-back riding.
You will be travelling in rural France and will depend on a car to buy supplies for the week. We thus recommend that you travel by car or rent one at the airport or train station.
