Itinerary

Day 1 - The vegan side of the historic centre

Arrival at 2pm at the hotel near the train station. Briefing with your guide. Guided walking tour of the historic centre of Strasbourg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Short break in a vegan pastry shop and meeting with the founder of a vegan, zero waste and environmentally friendly cosmetics shop.

Return to the hotel and dinner in a vegan restaurant in the city centre.

Day 2 - Organic Strasbourg by bike

Local, organic and vegan buffet breakfast at the hotel. The day starts with a bicycle tour on the well developed cycling network of Strasbourg, punctuated by stopovers: Neustadt, the European district, the canals, the Parc de l'Orangerie, the Robertsau, the Danube eco-district, etc.

Basket lunch at an organic market gardener's, followed by a meeting with an association involved in promoting cohousing in Strasbourg's eco-neighbourhoods.

Stop at an organic shop for a workshop devoted to hemp and its many different uses, in the presence of a local producer.

Return to the hotel for a refined dinner delivered by a caterer specialised in vegan cuisine.

Day 3 - Gourmet escapade in Alsace

After breakfast, TER (regional train) to Obernai, a charming town about 30 km from Strasbourg. From there, cycle tour to a family-run sauerkraut factory. Guided tour of the workshops and tasting of the (plant-based) sauerkraut specialities. Lunch break in Obernai, for example in a local vegan and gluten-free shop.

Return trip with the TER to Dambach-La-ville and visit of a biodynamic winegrower, followed by a tasting of vegan wines.

Depending on the weather and the available time, cycle tour to a castle.

Return by TER to the hotel and dinner in a vegan restaurant in the city centre.

Day 4 - Plant-based cuisine

After breakfast, visit of an organic mushroom producer in an urban solidarity farm. TER to Barr, a small picturesque town nestled in the vineyards, for a vegan cooking workshop organised by a specialised chef.

Return to Strasbourg and end of the stay in the middle of the afternoon, around 3pm.

The itinerary can be changed without affecting the quality of the programme.

3 nights in a 4**** eco-labelled hotel located next to the train station. Vegan meals in restaurants and during the cooking workshop. Single room on request ( +€150)

Note

The tour takes place on scheduled dates a few times a year but it is possible to add dates for groups on request. Please note that the group capacity is limited to 12 people.

Tour level: easy

Urban bike rides with frequent stops. Velhop, the bike sharing service of Strasbourg will be used. To shorten the travel time, the regional train will be used to reach places located outside the city.

Supervision

Trilingual guide in French, German and English. As the group may be made up of participants of different nationalities, translations may be required.
