Nourish mind, body and soul in the favorable climate of Nice thanks to varied yoga and meditation sessions amidst the extraordinary landscapes of the Côte d'Azur.
This one-week program starts on Sundays and offers the perfect balance of yoga classes, cultural activities, time to interact with teachers and other participants and the opportunity to find time for yourself. A yoga session starts and ends each day and the meals from the lodging are homemade and organic.
Day 1: Arrival in the hinterland of Nice
The meeting point for this yoga trip is in the ecological guesthouse in the hinterland of Nice from 3pm. Participants taking the train or airplane can be picked up from the Nice train station or airport. Check-In. At 6:30 pm the group will receive a briefing of the itinerary followed by their first yoga session with an Apéritif-Dînatoire. An organic vegetarian dinner will cap off the first evening.
Day 2: Yoga and hiking
The group will enjoy a homemade breakfast on the sun terrace after a morning yoga session that starts at 7:30. Then the hiking begins. We are inspired by the Buddhist Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, who encouraged his followers to live life in the present moment as best as we can. The day ends with an introduction to Vipassana Meditation and a dinner of your choice. The daytime route depends on the time of year:
- In spring and autumn, the group hike around Le Baou montain. There will be a homemade picnic up top. Participants lunch before a magnificent view of the French Riviera and the Alps.
Distance: 8km - walking time: 4 hrs - difference in altitude: +350m and -350m on a rocky path.
- In summer, the group visits the gorges of the Cagnes or the Esteron. You will be able to swim in waterfalls and fresh water areas.
Distance: 5km - walking time: 2h30 - difference in altitude: +100m and -100m on uneven ground.
Day 3: Yoga and caring communication
Today, the morning session consists of Ashtanga Yoga (60-90min depending on the group) followed by breakfast. Introduction to Caring Communication (based on non-violent communication) for most of the day. There will be a slot for lunch where guests will also have some time to themselves. They may also opt for a meditation or massage (to be paid on site). A hatha yoga session will wind participants down for the evening meal at 8.
Day 4: Yoga, violets, cheese and wine
The asana session is accompanied by meditation. After breakfast, a minibus takes participants to the village of Tourrettes-sur-Loup hinterlands of the French Riviera, famous for its violets. The group then meet Bruno, a goat's cheese maker, for some fresh cheese and local wine from Saint-Jeannet. The Mediterranean Coast in the backdrop make for wonderful yoga setting. There will be a stop at the "Chapelle du Rosaire" in Vence before the evening yoga session and dinner.
Day 5: Yoga, plants and cooking
An asana session opens the day before participants spend some time exchanging about yoga over brunch. After a workshop on medicinal and aromatic plants at noon, everyone will have a breather for a couple of hours before the evening program of joint cooking starts. Here, participants will use organic local produce to whip up something nice. They'll enjoy the results at dinner after a hatha yoga session.
Day 6: Antibes
Participants stroll through the narrow streets of Antibes, one of the most beautiful cities on the French Riviera, famous for its medieval old town and Picasso Museum. The cobbled streets of the old town and market place are highly recommended. Try an absinthe tasting in an unlikely place or discover the picturesque and colourful alleys of the Libre du Safranier. Lunch at a local restaurant (costs between €15 to 20/person, drinks not included). A hatha session followed by dinner.
Day 7: The Tibetan singing bowls
An easy morning of hatha yoga, breakfast and lunch. Participants have the early afternoon to themselves, they can stroll through the area, meditate, or enjoy a massage (to be paid on site). The highlight of the day takes place at 3:30 in the village of La Gaude, the neighbouring village, for a yin yoga session followed by a relaxation session with Tibetan singing bowls. Sarah, Carline and Jean, certified yoga teachers, take turns with Benoit to lead the daily sessions. Sarah and Carline share the hatha yoga session, while they each have their own approach, they agree that it is ultimately about "listening to yourself". Jean for his part is an Ashtanga Yoga teacher, a much more dynamic yoga based on the rigor of alignment. More information about the profile of the teachers can be found in our detailed offer.
No previous knowledge of yoga is necessary for this tour.
Yoga: discover the diversity
The kind of yoga that Benoit likes to share is that of being, not doing. He was inspired by a French spiritual master, Jean Klein, who has passed on his practice in numerous books as well as on to eager students who today are keen on sharing his teachings ub turn. It is a more "meditative" yoga, inviting us to listen to the subtle feelings of the body in order to go beyond the physical body, to feel the energy body as well, and thus achieve a true presence to being. Various techniques, which are learned step by step, help to overcome personal difficulties and become more balanced. Yoga is a source of calm for the body, the thoughts, the mind and the soul.
We recommend an eco-friendly journey by train to Nice and further on by bus lines d'Azur to the village (travel time approx. 2hrs 20min). Pick-up service from the train station or airport (from 55,- € / trip payable on site). General information on how to get to France can be found on our blog.
